Book Review: Georgia On Her Mind
by Margaret Pappoe

Yes, there is good Christian chick lit out there. Fiction readers, do check out Georgia on Her Mind by Rachel Hauck.
Life has pulled a cruel prank on 33 years old Macy Moore! In a matter of hours the fast rising corporate executive tumbles down the ranks of the corporate ladder, AND her presumed altar-bound relationship ends as she is dumped by her wealthy, accomplished boyfriend. Pulled over in her high-speed pursuit of success, Macy is forced to live out her greatest fear – the fear of failure. She also faces the disappointing truth; her relationship with Jesus has been relegated to the backseat, its place taken by a demanding executive job, a non-believer boyfriend, a classy condo, flashy sports car and expensive wardrobe. Things do get worse before they turn around for the better. Fortunately, Macy’s loyal friends a.k.a. the Single Saved Sisters love and support her as she re-examines her priorities in career, relationships and life and makes better choices the second time around.
Georgia on Her Mind is a nicely paced easy read that you will definitely want to finish at a sitting. The plot is simple and the story line rather predictable, but Rachel Hauck pulls it off with real-to-life characters caught in situations we all can identify with. You’ll be dismayed at all the junk food Macy wolves down in depression over her demotion. Later on you will applaud her when she fasts to ‘starve her soul into silence so she can hear from God’. We have all met the arrogant, manicured, antacid-popping Chicago Executive, Steve Albright, as well as the clueless wannabe-turned-manager, Mike Perkins. You will love the Single Saved Sisters for keeping it real and wish for such true friends. So, join Macy on this journey of “discovering contentment and realizing with every part of [her] being [that] Jesus is [her] soul’s satisfaction”.
